Description: Antique Chinese Hardwood Bangzi Musical Instrument About 9 1/2 inches long, 4 inches wide and 2 1/4 inches deep. About 970 grams. Made of some type of rosewood or hardwood. I am not a wood specialist, so I have no idea which wood it is made from. I can tell you it has a nice grain and the rings are close together (see picture of the ends). I also do not know when this was made. I bought it from an estate with numerous other items 10-15 years ago, and put it aside, not knowing what it was. I just noticed it in my storeroom, and decided to see what it is. I learned it is a Chinese musical instrument called a Bangzi. I don't know if its mid 20th Century, or much older. The wood is really nice!
