Description: An antique Chinese export porcelain hexagonal Batavian rimmed soup plate. This soup bowl has hand painted decoration consisting of two cranes in a garden scene with rocks and peonies and a pine tree all in under-glaze cobalt blue. The border design on the cavetto of the bowl has Ruyi head type pattern. The lip of the bowl has an outer border of diamond diaper and floral scrolls. The base has a low foot rim. This lovely antique porcelain soup bowl dates to the eighteenth century, circa 1780, during the reign of the Emperor Qianlong ( 乾隆,1736-95) in the Qing dynasty 清代. This period equates to the reigns of George III in the United Kingdom. It is in good antique condition, other than the usual minor glaze flakes and chipping to the rim and below the flying crane there is a firing tear to the base of the bowl with an associated crack. No other chips cracks nor restoration. Please see the images. It is a very attractive item to add to a collection of antique blue and white hand painted Chinese 18th century export porcelain. The soup plate is 8 7/8 inches (22.5 cm) across the corners and 8 5/8 inches ( 21.8 cm) and stands 1 5/8 inches (4 cm) high, it weighs 361 grammes unpacked.
