Description: This decorative Saxe china plate by Charles Ahrenfeldt is a beautiful example of late 19th-century Victorian porcelain. In a rare pattern, the antique decorative plate has a hand-painted green fern and red gooseberry design with a dark green rim. The circa 1890s porcelain plate is shabby chic showing a web of cracks radiating out from the middle of the plate. The cracks do not extend to the rim of the plate and the plate was never broken into pieces and mended back together. There is also some wear to the hand-painted design and typical age spots to the glaze surface. Despite these flaws, the antique plate shows well. Hang this beautiful Victorian plate on a dining room wall as decor or display it in a breakfront. The antique plate is fully hallmarked on the bottom with a green Saxe crown dating the piece to circa 1890 - 1900. There is a numerical sequence hand-painted in green as well as an incised mark.
