Description: These are VERY RARE circa 1850's carved horn dangle earrings. The earrings have multiple carved sections that dangle within the main frame. There is a fine pin with a glass tip that connects them all together. This was a style that was often worn as Mourning jewelry. ( sometimes you will see old victorian photos of a woman wearing a similar style earring such as the photo I show in the listing. Photo is shown to verify this style was worn in the Victorian era) The earrings are 7/8" wide and 2 1/8" long. The earwires have a primitive look to them and are gold in color but I cannot verify the metal. Please view all of the photos. One earring has a chipped edge towards the top with some surface chipping on the backside. As you can see by the photos the earrings look very nice from the front.Considering these are about 175 years old and made from carved horn I would consider them to be in good condition even with the chipping on the backside of one earring. I know that true collectors of Victorian and Mourning jewelry will recognize this style and how rare these are. These will be carefully packed and well protected during shipping so that they arrive safely to you. Please ask any questions prior to purchasing.
