Our store was named after our cat Alice, back in 2009, when we first started on eBay and most of the stuff we sold was coming out of his mother's Attic. Hence Alice's Attic Antiques. There are 4 of us here, Jason & Michael. Jason specializes in identification. He could be at a yard sale and see a glass vase, look at the pattern and the bottom and give a rough year and maker for items, to me its a clear vase. However I have been in retail management since I was 18, so my expertise is in all the mechanics of running the store. Customer Service, packaging & shipping, etc Alice & Carol are our cats. Alice is the figure head of the store while her sister Carol is more background moral support. We are also an Eco-Friendly Store! Our packing materials are all obtained from a friend of ours who works for a local factory. They just throw it all out so we worked out a deal where he bags it up and brings it over and we reuse it. Lots of foam, bubbles etc. We even shred everything for filler, junk mail, paper from my work Our boxes are either obtained through my work, reusing the ones that came in or via USPS which are mostly (if not 100%) made of recycled material. Some examples of our brands and types we specialize in that I can name off the top of my head: Brands: Fostoria, Wedgwood, Westmoreland, Woods & Son, Cambridge Glass Co, Heisey, Johnson Bros, Royal Doulton, Lenox, Nippon, Noritake, Limoges, WM Rogers Silver, etc. Periods/Types: Edwardian, Victorian, Art Deco, Mid-Century Modern, Ruby Glass, Sterling Silver anything, Carnival Glass Items: Cups & Saucers, Vases, Dinnerware, Flatware, Serving Pieces, Sets for Luncheon - Breakfast - Dessert, Compotes, Bowls, Trays, Platters, Teapots, Pitchers, Punchbowls, Pretty much anything breakable. 2022 USPS Shipping Update on "Oversized Packages" USPS Has changed its pricing structure for packages larger than 1 cubic foot. Basically anything bigger than the standard 12x12x12 Box. They now use weight + dimensional volume to determine cost. What does that mean for our buyers? Unfortunately higher shipping for any item over 11" tall/long. Especially our customers that live on the west coast and southwest areas. How do you ship out your Packages? We get a discount for Priority mail that we pass onto our customers and that makes USPS Ground and Priority mail the same price. Do you offer Combined Shipping? Yes and No. If someone orders 2-3 small items. However, Sometimes things just cannot be combined in order to ensure a safe transport from us to you. Also keep in mind with the new shipping rules, if the box is bigger than 12x12x12 USPS Surcharges the **** out of the page so it may double the price. Ebay automatically calculates combined shipping cost during checkout and if there is a significant overage then we credit it back to you via paypal. With that being said, in rare cases there can be a balance due for shipping (Size surcharge, international weight/shipping restrictions etc). We will invoice you for the difference via paypal before the item ships out. NOTE: International orders have different combined rules please see international tab Why don't you offer free shipping? For what we sell and the price range we sell, it does not work. I have tested it several times and we sell more with regular shipping and lower item costs. My Item arrived damaged, or didn't arrive what do I do? Please See Customer Service Tab Almost all items have the make an offer assigned to it. Our acceptance/Counter/decline is based on several criteria. Amount of time it has been online, the number of watchers of the item, the saturation of that particular item on ebay, as well as if they item is on promotion or not. We try to accept or counter most offers except in cases of low ball offers or low offers on already discounted merchandise. (IE offering $3 on a $20 item, or making an offer for an additional 50% off an item that is already 40% off) When submitting an offer it is important to note that The offer you submit is for the item(s) only. Shipping is NOT Included in that. Regardless of if you put in the note "this offer includes shipping etc" the notes are not looked, we have had to many people try that so now all messages on an offer are ignored. As it states when you make an offer that the offer is for the item only and shipping is seperate. It is also a violation of ebay policy to attempt to do so. We look at the price offered and the deciding factors thats it. The below applies to nearly everything we sell. "The items we sell are old and most have been previously used as some point in time. (Antique/Vintage) None of them are in "Mint/Perfect" Condition. If a listing says no damage that does not include Wear and Tear. Wear and Tear: This is NOT Damage, its from being around anywhere from 20-150 years, (lets see how good you look after being used often for 80 years) and because many of the items were handmade and not factory made like today, you may see imperfections such as: un-noticable knicks (you can only see/feel if your trying to find something wrong with it aka 'flea bites') , fading (Color, maker's marks, patterns) , Gold/Silver work can be faded/incomplete. Silver items do tarnish (We polish it before pictures but as it sits it tarnishes and we do not polish again before shipping), Scuffs & Light scratches particularly on dinnerware & Trays, minor makers defects, sometimes dust/debris can be on/in an item if we chose not to risk cleaning the item. Ceramics & Porcelain do craze and can lightly stain this is a natural part of their life and is not damage. Some items have "Production Traits" this includes bubbles in glass, a chip that was glazed over by the maker and is now smooth. Handpainted items, Transferware can sometimes be not perfectly lined up or may have fading, smudge, etc. Common with entire dinnerware sets, not every piece contains makers marks. We do our best to take accurate pictures however lighting and angles can affect the shade of color on items. Please see listing for description, pictures and notes of any significant damage (Damage including signifigant chips, Major scratches, loss of plating, cracks, signifigant gold or pattern loss etc) if present. All our items can be magnified to look at patterns etc. It is the responsibility of the buyer to carefully look over listings, pictures, etc and to please ask all questions before bidding/buying. Thank You" For international orders we use the Ebay "Global Shipping Program" This means that ebay itself, not us, is 100% responsible for the item getting to you once it leaves the country. We simply ship it out to the distrubution center in Kentucky and they send it out, collect any taxes/VAT/Import fees ahead of time and handle the rest. There are several reasons we use the global shipping program - It is safer and faster than shipping it ourselves. It all goes in big containers to the select countries, any import fees are already done so customs time is minimal, and it avoids usps international so speed is better. International Orders CANNOT Be combined to ship. We do not see the the total shipping charge. All we see is how much it would cost to send it to Kentucky thats it. So we are unable to refund any of the shipping charges past that point. Also keep in mind the global shipping program charges per Item as it assumes one item per box. They do that to minimize import fees as its charged as the value of a package. - Any damage or packages that did not arrive now go through ebay not us. They inspect it in Kentucky, if there is damage they contact me after that if it is damaged in transit please contact ebay Global Shipping and they handle the rest - With the Ebay shipping program they send it out so asking us to perform illegal activities such as "Write book gift" on customs declaration instead of sterling silver candlesticks or changing the purchase price will not happen. Ebay will not allow us to put email or phone number here so any questions please send a message from the listing via "Contact Seller" Do you accept returns? Ebay policy is a 30 day return policy, We do not given the nature of our items. Each potential return is handled on a case by case basis. My item is different than what I ordered. If the item is different, example you ordered a cup and you got a plate. Our Apologies, we are human mistakes may happen when labeling a box. We will contact the correct buyer and send you each a shipping label to get the correct item to the correct buyer. If you feel the item you got is not as described in the listing, please go back and look at the pictures, the listing and the "Damage vs Wear and Tear" Tab above to ensure it truely is, then just contact us and we will work with you to get it taken care of. My Item arrived damaged, or did not arrive. What do I do? So first off you have our apologies. Not only do we sell on eBay but we buy also and have had the unfortunate experience of having an item arrive in a dozen different pieces. Its terrible, especially if its something that is hard to find. If you take a look at our feedback you will see that the NUMBER ONE compliment we get is out packing and safe shipment, however the USPS is an unpredictable beast and sometimes and accidents do happen. Luckily for us since 2009 we have only had a handful of broken items. Below are the steps to follow if your item arrives damaged. 1. I cannot stress this enough, DO NOT Use the Returns or Item not as described feature. Simply contact us, Via "Ask a question, Question about using my product or other" let us know the item was damaged, and send pictures of the item, the box, etc. We ship out everything insured just in case that happens. 2. Take pictures of the damage and package. Hang onto the package/item, we will file a claim through ShipCover for you. We NO LONGER use USPS Insurance. Why? They do everything in their power to deny the claim. Forcing buyers to take boxes of broken items down to the post office, only to come up with one of a dozen different reasons to deny it. ShipCover is fast and requires just pictures and a statement from the buyer. Takes a day or two, then at that point the refund goes through and you can dispose of the item. Lost packages take longer as they have to work to trace it down, speak to carrier etc Ebay will not allow us to put email or phone number here so any questions please send a message from the listing via "Contact Seller" Please take a moment to read over our store policies & FAQ Prior to purchase.
