Description: This charming Victorian piece is a hard-to-find match holder by the French company Portieux Vallerysthal. It's made of blue opaline milk glass and depicts a hunter with his gun resting by a tree stump. On one side is a bird and on the other side is a rabbit. It measures 5 1/4" long by 3 1/8" tall. It's marked on the bottom PORTIEUX. It's in excellent condition for its age, which dates to the late nineteenth century. There are no chips, crack or repairs. A rare find for the collector or anyone with an interest in Victorian items.
