Description: Up for your consideration this Exquisite Antique Baccarat Flers Hand Blown & Cranberry Hand Cut to Clear Crystal Decanter . It's approximately 13½" high with stopper, 10" without and 3" in diameter at the bottom. Nearly perfect condition, there is very little sign of wear. The only concern is one of the rubies chipped around decanter's lower part - please zoom to the last photo. The clear decanter's body was overlaid with cranberry colored crystal and then cut back to clear in the most detailed, masterful way possible. Cranberry crystal is made by adding gold chloride to hot molten glass and due to the high cost of the gold it is made by small, craft production quantities. Each drop of red is like a little precious ruby gem being showcased through the incredible workmanship of the Baccarat workshop. The stopper is a perfect completion of conical shape of decanter. The Flers glassware is a perfect example of Art Deco style. Art Deco is a design style that originated in France in the 1910s and became popular in the 1920s and 1930s. It's characterized by: Geometric shapes - sharp edges and stylized geometric patterns are a hallmark of Art Deco. Man-made materials - Art Deco often incorporates new materials and technologies. Bold colors - Art Deco uses vibrant colors, often in contrasting combinations, such as red and gold. Opulence - Art Deco is associated with the extravagance of the 1920s and a sense of optimism for the future. Dramatic vertical elements - Art Deco often features dramatic vertical elements. Art Deco was influenced by many other art movements, including Cubism, Futurism, and the Bauhaus. It's also seen as a reaction against Art Nouveau. I found no significant condition issues (except mentioned above) with the decanter, but signs of previous use and ownership should be expected consistent with its vintage timeline and should be taken into consideration with age and ownership.
