Description: Attractive and beautifully made in the studio at Stoke, by Benjamin & Sampson Hancock and is the EARLIER ORIGINAL ONE BEFORE SAMPSON REGISTERED THE PATTERN FOR HIMSELF IN 1884 - IT IS A MINIMUM OF 142 YEARS OLD, SEE HISTORY IN PICS. Antique 1876-1881 latest and has 3 stilt marks on the base from the kiln and has remnants of the seams each side from the studio production see last photos.. It is signed on the base. We checked the handle and it is solid and secure. Large Chamber pot with the most fabulous pattern called "Blackberry" which is continuous around the bowl and features blackberries, grasses and a butterfly. The handle is plaited and looks like branches.....the colourings are really nice and muted giving a realistic appearance and are finely detailed...for instance on the leaves, some are finely lined and 3 tone colours....very appealing on the eye! PERFECT FOR USE TODAY AS A PLANT POT...PERHAPS WITH A LARGE FERN...WHICH I THINK WOULD LOOK REALLY GOOD ESPECIALLY IN A PERIOD/COUNTRY HOME OR IN A VINTAGE SETTING....ALTERNATIVELY, FILL WITH DRIED PINE CONES! NO PLANT IS INCLUDED AND MINE IS JUST FOR DISPLAY AND TO SHOW YOU IDEAS. Measures 6" high approx x 9 2/8" top rim diameter excluding handle and will accommodate a large plant. (No plants are included). Overall considering its age, it is in very good condition with only age/production related marks and a minute nick to the underside rim see photo. Glaze crazing consistent with age and the inside is relatively clean. No big chips or cracks. Courier signed heavy and big box.
