Description: This is a very amazing and very rare antique tribally made and worn African Chief necklace which primarily consists of antique Venetian seven layer chevron beads and which was collected from Nigeria, Africa. This highly prized African made necklace is often referred to as a Chief necklace and was made especially for a important male figure of the tribe to wear. This antique African chevron tribally made necklace is strung on a sturdy non bendable wire with cloth and yarn wrapped around the back of the necklace where it would rest on the back of the neck. This necklace has one antique Venetian six layer chevron bead and the rest of the beads appear to all be antique Venetian seven layer chevron beads with one of these being a rare black chevron. Great antique rustic tribally made and used condition with one tribally repaired bead with handmade African resin, a chipped bead and a bead having some glass loss. This is a huge and impressive museum quality African tribal necklace whose outer diameter measures 32 1/2" inches around with 26 1/2" inches of that being made up of beads. Largest antique Venetian seven layer chevron bead measures 1.87" inches long by 1.27" inches wide. The second largest antique seven layer chevron bead measures 1.80" inches long by 1.26" inches wide. The third largest antique seven layer chevron measures 1.76" inches long by 1.36" inches wide. The antique Venetian six layer chevron bead measures 1.16" inches long by 1.03" inches wide. The antique Venetian seven layer chevron with the tribal resin repair is an awesome example and measures 1.46" inches long by 1.06" inches long. The antique seven layer chevron bead with the black surface layer stripes measures 0.88" inches long by 0.85" inches wide.
