Description: Antique 19thC English Majolica Yellow Sardine Box W/Green Acanthus Leaves Border c1865. Lovely details of Trompe l'Oiel Sardines on the top of the lid. This colorful Yellow Sardine Box is attributed to George Jones & Sons in 1865 is rectangular in shape and the lid sits on an attached base. the removable lid features three trompe l'oeil Gray, Black and Yellow sardines on a Teal blue, green brown and yellow seaweed ground, and is embellished with acanthus leaves. The acanthus leaves are continued along the border of the yellow base Stunning. Measures 8.5"W x 7.5" D x 4.5" T Aged to Perfection. In excellent Condition. Shows some wear appropriate to age.
