This is a large curved arm example, likely an old time map charting tool for pioneer explorers to carry around. This wrought iron arms have beautiful and elegant form. The hinge has great bold form and is decorated with a brass band, amazingly well preserved. sharp tips. No chips or bents. It is quite functional even today! It would be a great item to be added to your antique primitive/ early Americana collections. It measures approximately 8” long when closed. There is No visible repairs and it is in original antique condition. It Shows natural aging, and slightly pitted surface. No rust. great blackened patina.
