Description: Antique 1860s German made similar to Martin 21 style parlor acoustic guitar This style of guitar was built mostly in Germany (though Austrian and French examples are extant) and the ones over here were mostly imported from the 1830s through the 1880s. This example looks about 1860s to my eyes, though it's possible it's a little earlier. It's a very pretty instrument with its figure-8 body shape, fancy birdseye maple sides, Renaissance-style bridge shape, and pearl-inlaid rosette. This headstock shape was used by many makers at the time and continued as a popular shape through the mid-1800s. The nut is original and ebony -- and it felt like the width was 1 3/4" but with a neck profile that's a quick, modern-ish "C" shape. The pegs are original ebony violin-style ones, Street price: $2,799 It might be a tiny stretch to call the 0-18 a parlor, but it is Martin?s smallest full-sized guitar. With its modified low oval neck and high-performance taper, the 0-18 is highly playable and delivers that classic small-bodied Martin sound in spades.happy bidding.
