Description: Presented is a very nice Norwegian silver spoon, dated 1801. The spoon has a zigzag engraved floral design on the front of the handle and the back of the bowl, along with simple horizontal bands and notch designs along the handle. The bowl of the spoon has a monogram of KSS in elegant script. This piece is hallmarked with the mark for the city of Bergen, the letter P assay mark used from 1790-1812, the maker's mark MIK, the year 1801, and the Sagittarius zodiac symbol of an arrow for November 21-December 21. The minimum fineness allowable for Norwegian silver in 1801 was 830 purity, so this piece is guaranteed by its assay mark to be at least 830 purity silver. This piece is in good overall condition. The front of the tip of the handle has an old repair or damage, as you can see in the second photo. Otherwise there are no damages, no repairs, and no monogram removals. The spoon is about 6 inches long. This piece weighs 23.4 grams. -jm Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
