Description: This platter is English, by the company of Ridgway & Morley, of Shelton, an area of Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire which was active from 1842 to 1845 . This piece is ironstone, with a blue transfer decoration applied under the glaze. Ironstone is a vitreous type of ceramic fired at high temperatures to strengthen it. It does not contain iron, but the term ironstone is used to donate strength and durability. Appears to be Roman / Greek Ruins. Measures 15" Long and 11" Wide. Has Flea Bite in Upper Left Corner / No Cracks or Breaks / Considering almost 200 years old in remarkable condition / Please Examine Pictures for Condition as they are part of the description.
