Description: Here is this very beautiful early to mid 20th century antique solid 14 K rose gold large ladies ring with a 15 mm x 10 mm oval faceted natural purple amethyst gemstone that has been carefully examined under magnification and it is without noteworthy scratches or abrasions as it sits in a very sturdy bezel setting. It is surrounded by 16 assorted diamonds and it looks like this ring was custom-made by a jeweler who just used whatever diamonds he or she had on their bench because there are a couple that are single cut and others that are old European cut and there's even a couple full cut round brilliants, these are all natural diamonds with a range of color and clarity some are without inclusions and others have small inclusions, one is a little cloudy and another has a small tiny crack and they are all very securely set as the craftsmanship of this old ring is amazing . The ring weighs 8.9 grams and it is a size 6 that could easily be sized by a jeweler, the top of the ring measures just short of 1 inch north to south as it tapers to a sturdy band that is unmarked and the ring has been professionally tested here as solid 14 K rose gold . The measurements of this gemstone have been researched through a online gem calculator that gives it 6.7 cts and with the diamonds the ring has a total carat weight calculated at 7.38 so calling it 7.0 gives the online calculator a little room for error but the total carat weight is in that area. This amethyst gemstone sits low so this ring cannot go on a sizing mandrel that does not have the groove, the sizing mandrels with a groove were made for rings like this.
