Description: The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank, Scholastic/Pocket Cardinal ed. 1967. Anne Frank's Diary of a Young Girl was originally published in English translation in 1950. In 1989, an updated critical edition that featured additional editorial material as well as both of Anne's drafts of the diary was published - this is the version most readily available today. The original 1950 text, with an introduction by Eleanor Roosevelt, can only be found in vintage editions. This edition was jointly published by Scholastic and Pocket Books in its Cardinal series. It is a pocket book sized photoplay edition, featuring information about the 1959 20th Century Fox film The Diary of Anne Frank. The cover features a photo still from that production of Millie Perkins as Anne. The book is complete and intact but shows significant wear. The exterior has creases, edge wear, and rubbing of the paint throughout. There are no tears or missing pieces. The glue binding is completely intact and tight and the interior is clean and unmarked with the exception only of an owner's name ("Judy Farnham") written in pencil on the inside front cover. (I have decided not to attempt to erase this to avoid damaging the aging cardstock, but a careful and/or picky collector could probably get rid of these marks.) The pages are moderately tanned. This is a hard-to-find edition of one of the 20th century's most important books. All books are individually evaluated and photos are of the actual book.
