Description: This is a rare single page advertising handbill (flyer) promoting ticket sales for the one-week, Post-Broadway engagement of the NOEL COWARD entertainment "NOEL COWARD IN TWO KEYS" at the Hanna Theatre in Cleveland, Ohio beginning March 17th, 1975. (The production opened February 28th, 1974 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre in New York City and ran for 140 performances before going on the road.) ..... The two-part play starred ANNE BAXTER, HUME CRONYN and JESSICA TANDY and featured JOEL PARKS ..... Side note: Noel Coward's final stage success came with Suite in Three Keys (1966), a trilogy set in a hotel penthouse suite. He wrote it as his swan song as a stage actor: "I would like to act once more before I fold my bedraggled wings." The trilogy gained glowing reviews and did good box office business in the United Kingdom. In one of the three plays, A Song at Twilight, Coward abandoned his customary reticence on the subject and played an explicitly homosexual character. The daring piece earned Coward new critical praise. He intended to star in the trilogy on Broadway but was too ill to travel. Only two of the Suite in Three Keys plays were performed in New York, with the title changed to Noël Coward in Two Keys, and with Hume Cronyn replacing Noel Coward. (Wikipedia) ..... CREDITS: Book by NOEL COWARD; Sets designed by WILLIAM RITMAN; Costumes designed by RAY DIFFEN; Directed by VIVIAN MATALON; Produced by RICHARD BARR and CHARLES WOODWARD .....
