Description: US Civil War Model 1860 Cavalry Sword with Scabbard. The ricasso is marked "Ames Mfg Co.", "Chicopee", "Mass.", the reverse has "US", "J.H." over "1861.", the top of the pommel has "A.D.K.", the front of the pommel has an unusual hand done picture of what looks like a sun and a dog. The knuckleguard is a little deformed. The grip, guard, and pommel are all tight. The grip has about 75% of the leather remaining. The twisted wire has one row left by the pommel and there is some straight brass wire loosely wrapped around the grip. The blade is lightly sharpened, a few nicks on the lower third, age spots and light pitting scattered throughout, also the last 1/2" of the tip has a bend. The scabbard is solid with a couple dents, and there is pitting with some surface rust throughout. The leather washer is intact. Length of the blade is 34 7/8" (1 1/16" wide and 5/16" thick), the sword is 41", and in the scabbard it is 42 1/16". Check out my other War Items! Including More Swords and Many Bayonets!
