Compression stems typically will open and close with more than a quarter turn of the handle to get full flow of water. The seal on the stem is made by the washer sitting against the brass seat on the bottom of the faucet body. Sometimes the brass seat is built into the body of the stem, but this is still a compression stem. This is not an OEM product it is a replacement for the item listed below.
