Description: Purchased by my grandparents--and most likely were made by The Elmira Cut Glass Co exclusively for the John Wanamaker and Company department store in downtown Philadelphia which was the place to shop c. 1890s to 1910s. 6-inch dessert plate, also referred to as a saucer and an ice cream saucer. These items are decorated with a prominent cross hatch that dominates the center. The dishes have nice crisp sawtooth edges. Each is 6 inches in diameter and are 1-1/2 inches deep and are great for holding a nice scoop or two of ice cream. Single ones are also commonly used now as a candy dish. We have 8 for sale.
