Description: An incredible antique English Victorian 15k gold amethyst and pearl floral brooch in fitted box, hallmarked for London 1898. This fantastic and extremely fine quality antique Victorian solid 15k yellow gold brooch has been wonderfully preserved inside its box for over 125 years! The brooch is in the form of a pretty flower with a massive and incredibly beautiful 54.3 carat natural oval faceted amethyst at it center which has been deeply cut so it glows the most gorgeous dark and light lilac purple when it touches the light, the amethyst held with dozens of prongs in a gold crown form gallery with a second level underneath with a halo of 41 stunning silvery white pearls all prong set above a gold filigree gallery-super beautiful! The reverse has a pin and roll over C clasp. The brooch has a single date letter 'C' on the pin for London, England 1898. The brooch tests for 15k gold. The brooch comes with its original high domed blue silk and velvet fitted box. The brooch measures about 1 3/8 x 1 1/8 inches. The amethyst measures approximately 29.5mm x 23mm x 15.1mm or about 54.3 carats The pearls are about 1.5mm. The brooch weighs approximately 20.8 grams. The brooch is in excellent condition with general light overall wear. The nacre on the pearls is generally very good with a little age related discoloration and a few with crackling.
