The alternator mounting brackets currently offered in "Generator to Alternator Conversion Kits" require 12 major steps and 5.5 hours to install: 1) Drain Radiator 2) Remove hood, radiator and fan for easy access to water pump bolts. 3) Remove generator 4) Support the engine. 5) Remove two bolts on the right side connecting the engine to the front axle carrier. You may have to loosen the two bolts on the left side if you are unable to complete step 6. 6) Remove generator belt tensioning bracket and cut so as to be flush with the front axle carrier. You can preserve this part by merely flipping it upside down. 7) Reinsert the generator belt tensioning bracket (now a spacer) and two bolts. 8) Tighten and torque the two or four bolts attaching engine to the front axle pivot bracket. 9) Attach slotted alternator tensioning bracket to water pump. 10) Attach alternator pivot bracket (bottom bracket) to the engine boss. 11) Install alternator, V-Belt, Fan, Radiator and Hood. 12) Refill radiator. Now you can begin the wiring process. DOES NOT REQUIRE MODIFICATION TO ENGINE COMPONENTS. Installation is as easy as removing the generator and installing the alternator, using original hardware and V-Belt. An experienced mechanic can complete the installation in less than 15 minutes. It is compatible with genuine Delco 10si casings. Not all after market casings are manufactured to the same dimensions of the genuine Delco. Some minor sanding or filing may be required to either the inside diameter of the bracket or the outside diameter of the alternator. Most of you are looking to convert to 12 Volt negative ground which, requires the use of a ballast resistor or the purchase of a 3 ohm coil and routing a new wire harness. If you choose to stay with the 6 Volt positive ground, all you need is a 6 Volt positive ground alternator, a #8 or #10 wire and this bracket. Everything else stays the same. Thank you, sir! Great transaction! Some fitting required between alternator and bracket but that is to be expected. Impressed and satisfied! It really is a superior design. I removed one of those other kits, luckily, I hadn’t cut the one piece you indicated, I had turned it upside down, but I never liked the looks of it that way.
