Description: Josiah Gilbert Holland (1819-1881) wrote under the pseudonym of Timothy Titcomb. He was a founder of Scribner's Monthly which he edited. He was born in Massachusetts and studied medicine at Berkshire Medical College and graduated in 1844. He gave up medicine after a few years and took teaching positions in Richmond, Virginia and Vicksburg, Mississippi. He and his wife returned to Massachusetts in 1850 where he became editor of the Springfield Republican newspaper and began his writing career. ALS on 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" paper in Good condition with a small stain and a fold crease. Very Good condition.
