Three Almaz OPS space stations (Saliout military version) were successively placed in orbit and were occupied sporadically between 1973 and 1977. Each time it was the provisional version of the Almaz to which Soyuz spacecraft docked, due to lack of availability of the TKS resupply and crew relief vessel initially planned but whose development was significantly delayed. The first station, OPS-1, was lost before a crew even occupied it. Five crews, each made up of two cosmonauts, were launched successively to occupy the following stations, but two of them failed to dock following failures in the Igla automatic rendezvous system. The total time spent in space by the crews was 81 days. The Almaz program was finally canceled before the launch of the fourth space station, due to lack of support from the military, who were unconvinced by the provision of a crew for reconnaissance missions5. Sent in a collector envelope with a 1977 Soviet stamp "Man outer space" - N ° Sol 4753 / Mi 4649 or 1976 stamp "Appolo-Soyuz"- N° Sol 4635 / Mi 4532.
