Description: Stunning Antique Vase from Alfred Stellmacher Turn Tepliz. Golden Dragonflies handle on each side. Gold and lavender floral / leaf motif. Measures 9.75" high. I do not see any issues with this piece at all. No chips, cracks or repairs. Mild fading of some of the gold in areas. Marking on bottom: A ribbon in the shape of a horse shoe that says Alfred Stellmacher Turn Teplitz with a rose inside (faded), impressed with the number 469, handwritten numbers 0389 and 1087Stellmacher HistoryAlbert Stellmacher was born on October 11, 1837, in Thuringia, Germany. He learned his trade working in ceramic factories in the area. In 1876, Stellmacher founded a porcelain factory in Turn to produce porcelain flowers. Stellmacher expanded his product line to include pieces featuring Orientalism and Neo-Baroque styles. In 1892, Alfred Stellmacher, his son Eduard Stellmacher, and his sons-in-law Karl and Hans Riessner, and Rudolf Kessel formed Riessner, Stellmacher, & Kessel Amphora, also known at the Amphora Porcelain Works. The factory was located in Turn-Teplitz. Many designs were large vases with applied, finely detailed amphibians, birds, dragons, and insects. Stellmachers development of hard earthenware preserved the details during firing. Some vases had highly colored glazes and luster that he had not previously used in his work with AmphoraConsidering the age of this vase of over 100 years since its creation, it is in lovely condition. Again, given its age,the only condition issue I see is some mild fading of gold glaze on the body of the piece. Please see the last few photos for these issues as this piece is being sold "as is".Issues - mild fading of gold in areasConsidering that this is approximately 120 years old, wear is almost a given. This piece is quite rare, but I will accept reasonable offers. I acquired a large collection of Amphora recently, so please see my other pieces being posted over the next few weeks.
