Signed in the plate, size 14-5/8” x 24-1/2” over all with plate 17-5/8" x 27-1/2" released in 2009. Alfred Alexander Gockel was born in the coal mining town of Ludinghausen Germany in 1952. His first work was published when only 8 years old. He had planned to become an engineer but at the age of 16 began work in German coal mines at 700 meters deep. When coal mining experienced a downturn, the town's inhabitants were left without jobs. The struggle that Gockel felt still continues to affect his Artwork today. Gockel has said, "I like to touch the viewer's soul with my vibrant colors. "Often in my paintings, I use elements that reflect my challenging past, when a boy I worked in coal mines. My purpose is to express my joy in life and to show that we can overcome many obstacles through the expressions of life's beauties. " Gockel's experience in the coal mines is a major reason why he uses self-prepared tar in his own acrylics. From humble beginnings, Gockel has become one of the most prolific distributors of modern Art Lithographs & Serigraphs in the world, with a style that is truly undeniably unique. Art will be shipped FedEx or USPS. We are in the process of downsizing and are selling a lot of our memorabilia that we have accumulated over the years.
