Description: ALBANIA; 1920 Skanderbeg Optd. issue fine Mint hinged 1Fr. value PLEASE NOTE; These German Berlin District Overprints are very difficult to identify due to the majority of them being produced for collectors after they were officially withdrawn from sale. They were only on sale for a very short period of days in mid June 1948. These overprints District Hand Stamps (Bezirksstempel) were created by a currency revaluation. New stamps were not available at the time of the currency revaluation so the current stamps were hand stamped to show that the new rate was paid. As a result most of the vales seen are assumed to be issued simply for collectors. This stamp is identified as such on reverse as being not a genuine overprint issued during the correct time period, HOWEVER the stamp is of course genuine and the overprint is a philatelic one.
