Alan Maley (1931-1995) was a British visual effects artist as well as a matte painter. Born in England, his talents were recognized at an early age. He attended Art College and then trained as a scenic artist. Upon contracting polio, he had to re-evaluate his career and became friends with Walt Disney who brought Alan to America where he worked for Disney studios. He also worked with Stanley Kubrick, John Huston, Laurence Olivier, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. He continued to paint, and was inspired by the era of the turn of the century.
