Description: Mint Condition: Auction is for a Set of 4 Alamo Heroes Lithographs on Arches Signed in Plate Limited Bowie Crockett Travis Darst The actual image size of the artwork on the 16" by 12" lithos on Arches paper is 12 3/16" by 9" or each litho. These were produced for the Alamo in the 1950s in four competitions. The plates were discovered and remade as the Millennium Edition released in the year 2000. Each was signed in the plate. This edition was originally limited to 5,000 sets of the 4 pieces. "Jim Bowie" was painted by Frederick W. Becker. "Davy Crockett" was painted by Harry Anthony DeYoung. "William Barret Travis" was painted by Warren Hunter. "Jacob Darst & The Texan Army" was painted by Warren Hunter. If anybody has any questions about these fine art prints, please ask. Twenty years ago these same exact prints were sold inside the Alamo gift shop for $40 each print. After they were printed at the Quadrangle Press, the printer of many David Robinson posters, I sold to the Alamo Gift Shop 10 each of Jim Bowie, Davy Crockett and Colonel Travis. They wanted the big three. That's a total of 30 individual lithos. I offered them terms if they wanted and they said, No. We'll buy them. Because it was the Alamo, I offered them for $10 each and they refused my offer and countered with $20 each and said they wouldn't pay a penny less. If you don't believe it, I still have that original payment info. The check they gave me was over $600.00. So what I'm offering here is the same prints, all still in mint condition, for the same price plus about a 1% increase per year, at $100, and accepted one offer of $80 so far, which is exactly what THE ALAMO ITSELF paid for theirs, and I offered these for that price even though the value of the prints has gone UP in value, the rarity of the item has increased, they are almost 25 years since then, 1999, about 24 years. The Alamo then sold them for $40 twice the price. In other words these are currently, not forever, being offered at the wholesale price THE ALAMO SET over two decades ago. So at $20 each you are getting below wholesale when you add on their value as increasingly rare artwork. Every artist who painted the original that THESE LITHOS were made from are well-known artists by the Alamo and Texas art collectors. This is no scam. I don't know why nobody else wants them. I'm not going any lower. I'll consider raising the price, but I thought to give a few people a chance because I'm a generous person. But sometimes if you give people a deal, they ask what's wrong with it. That's just how cynical some people are. I was at the flew market and a lady told me, I don't see anybody buying your stuff. That's right, ma'am. This is all fine porcelein. Yes, ma'am. The problem is that your prices are too low and everybody is put off by that because they think something is wrong with them, that their broken, repaired or stolen. I said, No, I work for the mini-storage and sell what's left over. Being an antique dealer she helped me set correct prices. I sold everything in half an hour. So if you think I'm up to something or doing something wrong, send me some feedback. I'm an ex-Marine, I worked for a black Senator, I do this for the love of our state, and my admiration for these heroes. I was crippled while in the Marines. I don't have to beg you for anything, but if you think I'm a lowlife selling this to make money off of men who died for our state, that's an insult to my honor. It's because I AM LIKE THEM, that I feel I was given the chance to sell these prints and if you don't want them, some of you could tell me why. Not a single person has written me asking a single question. But if nobody wants the heroes of the Alamo and the thousands of my savings I put into these prints to recreate this with the blessings of the DRT and curator there, I'll just pull them off of here and only allow you to buy them at $75 each at the Alamo. How's that sound?
