Description: Great 2 1/4 inch button made for the day when Democratic Presidential candidate Al Gore made the public announcement of Senator Joe Lieberman as the Democrat Party Vice-Presidential candidate. This happened on August 8, 2000 in Nashville, TN at the War Memorial Plaza. The event was well attended. Nicely made and historically significant piece. The War Memorial Plaza was also decorated to be the backdrop for Al Gore's acceptance speech on the night of November 7, but that was not to be as the election dragged on into the wee hours and those gathered for the acceptance speech went home. As you know, the vote count in Florida was crucial in the closest Presidential election in history, and George W. Bush won the Presidency in the Electoral vote, but lost the popular vote to Al Gore.
