About the Book:This is a first edition hardcover book with dust jacket titled, Akiane: Her Art, Her Art, Her Poetry, and is signed by author Akiane Kramarik. This is the amazing young lady who's pictures are shown at the beginning and end of the movie, "Heaven is for Real". For those who didn't see the movie, Colton Burpo, the boy who went to Heaven and met Jesus was amazed to see Akiane's paintings and agreed that this was the same face of Jesus that he met in Heaven. About Akiane Kramarik:Akiane Kramarik (born on July 9, 1994) is an American poet and artist. She became known as a child prodigy after her exemplary artwork of Jesus Christ, as well as other pieces, gained international attention. She began drawing at the age of four. Kramarik's best-known painting is Prince of Peace, which was completed at the age of eight. It has been assumed of Akiane Kramarik that because of her series of paintings depicting Jesus, she is most likely Christian. But when she was once asked why she chose to be a part of Christianity, she simply answered, "I didn't choose Christianity; I chose Jesus Christ". She then adds in the same conversation, "I don't know much about the religions, but I know this: God looks at our love." She is also known to have said, "I don't belong to any denomination or religion. I belong to God." Some of her statements seem to indicate a belief in Monism. "If we really look at it", says Akiane, "everything is connected. Everything is one". Her statement, “Everything is one”, whether she is aware of it or not, is very similar to a statement once made by Buddhist monk Chan Master Sheng Yen:"One is everything; Everything is one. If you can be like this, Why worry about not finishing? Faith and mind are not two; Non-duality is faith in mind." Kramarik also introduces a teaching that she terms "Co-creation". This is the belief that one day human beings will be able to co-operate with the Supreme Deity in miraculous and divine things, such as creating our own reality. The term "Co-creation" can also be found in New Age circles. Akiane also respects the teachings of Hinduism, for she says this about her painting, Enlightenment, which depicts a Hindu monk meditating on a hillside:“One summer we received a call from London. A week later, the stranger with the same distinct British accent was standing by the front door of our remote forest home in Idaho. We were stunned what we saw next: A Hindu monk from top to bottom dressed in his own traditional robes. The intention of his sudden arrival was to share an urgent, confidential, and spiritual message with me, then immediately return back home. However, my family and I convinced him to stay with us longer. During five days of his visit, he was sharing about his culture and traditions, eventually agreeing to model for me. A few months later, I began painting a new story, but its complete message was revealed to me much later. It was simple and clear: respecting differences of our unique spiritual crossroads to purity and harmony demonstrates maturity and contributes to reaching the Enlightenment. The journey to wisdom often becomes far from being enlightened, because the destination of wisdom is a continuous journey.” In light of that, it may also be observed that aspects of Akiane's teachings mirror those of Unitarian Universalism, since, as she said above, "respecting differences of our unique spiritual crossroads to purity and harmony demonstrates maturity and contributes to reaching the Enlightenment." It finally can be added that aspects of Akiane's beliefs mirror those of certain fundamental doctrines that are found in the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Consider, for instance, that her above mentioned doctrine of "Co-creation" is also found in the Book of Abraham, chapter four, as found in the Pearl of Great Price of LDS canonical scripture. Her own experience would also seem to indicate belief in the preexistence of the human soul, for she has once said,“As a young girl I used to feel that I was just a visitor here on earth, and my permanent home and family were somewhere else. I recalled having chosen my own earthly parents, my own name, and even watching my own development as an embryo. Many of us carry an unforgettable impression that somewhere we have seen a better world than this one—our true home. Our desire and need for excellence is a vague reminiscence of that perfect place we had once known. Our craving for comfort, meaningful relationships, great architecture, and aesthetic surroundings stems from that forgotten source of abundance. It is as if we are constantly comparing the two states, yet rarely feeling full contentment. Our yearning for profound and wholesome connections stays within us; however, this world rarely meets our expectations—with our first mortal breath, we, immortal beings, forget our entire infinite experience. Even those who have completely forgotten our real past keep on striving for perfection as a compass. But those of us who vividly remember it experience rather conflicting emotions: on one hand, reassurance about our remarkable journey, and on the other hand—massive contrasts between the worlds. In many worlds, time and space do not exist the way we experience them here on earth, and a being can coexist in multiple physical and spiritual locations, the very inspiration for Footsteps of Eternity.... We admire strength, but without us, strength has no longevity. Sometimes we are given more than we can handle so we can change others. Broken hearts become history and reveal a divine seal—we get distinguished as survivors. One day, we will walk in the same footsteps as our future.”Akiane teaches regarding the fall of man into sin, that, "The tree of the knowledge of good and evil is full of forbidden fruit: red for the knowledge of evil, the green for the knowledge of good. It was created to be tempting, fragrant and easy to be picked."That the tree of the knowledge of good and evil is considered by Akiane to have been created by God "to be tempting", is another parallel to LDS doctrine, which teaches that good resulted from the fall:"Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy" (2 Nephi 2:25). Thus Akiane, as displayed by the content of her teaching, has shown that her own belief system has similarities to that of the teachings of Christianity, the New Age Movement, Hinduism, Unitarian Universalism, Wicca, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
