This high-performance night-vision device is built to the stringent 810G Military standards, which ensures the PVS-14 can withstand vibration, shock, and adverse environmental conditions. It can be used as a handheld monocular, but ships with a head-mount assembly as well as a helmet/head mount adapter these enable hands-free operation, and allows the PVS-14 to be used in conjunction with compatible daytime optical systems or a firearms iron sights. The heart of the PVS-14 is a 3AW2 Gen 3 IIT - one of the best image intensifier tubes offered by AMG. It features a very limited number of spots in zone 1 and offers significantly greater brightness and resolution when compared to Gen 2 models. Other features of the PVS-14 include an bight-light automatic shutoff function, which ensures the high-quality photocathode tube of the Gen 3 3AW1 IIT is protected. The PVS-14 also includes an integrated IR illuminator, allowing the device to be used on moonless/starless nights, or in environments of extreme darkness.
