The basket is raised up on three lily pad form feet, and the bowl is done in the form of a lily pad or flower as well. The underside of the bowl is beautifully textured with the veins of the leaf or flower realistically rendered. The top of the bowl has been polished to a high finish. The swing handle is ornamented with naturalistic vines and leaves that wind around the sides of the handle. The basket was made around the 1870s or 1880s. This piece looks like something Gorham or Whiting would have done, but unfortunately it was never marked. Tested and guaranteed to be sterling silver. The condition is excellent. The swing handle is working well. There are no dents, no splits, no monograms, no monogram removals, no breaks, and no repairs. The basket measures 4 3/4 inches in diameter and 3 3/4 inches tall.
