Description: Active Training: A Handbook of Techniques, Designs, Case Examples, and Tips by Mel Silberman (Third Edition) (2006) Editorial Review Book Description Since 1990, Mel Silberman’s classic book, Active Training, has been a runaway best-seller for trainers at all levels and a popular text for university level courses in adult education and training. The active training method—which turns the spotlight away from the instructor and put the emphasis on the learner—has emerged over time as a proven and reliable method for enhancing involvement, learning, and change. The third edition of Active Training, provides a thorough introduction to the core principles of active training design and delivery and includes a wealth of examples, tips, and techniques. The book has been revised to reflect the latest trends in workforce training and key sections, such as assessment and evaluation, have been thoroughly updated. In addition, a completely new chapter has been included to cover the design of active training for e-learning and online application. Review Recommended!!! Mel Silberman's book is so comprehensive, I am still reading it and referring to it. It covers everything a trainer needs to know and is a college degree in and of itself in instructional technology. I was particularly attracted to his insights in opening and closing activities and e-learning which was not around when I earned my M.S. in Training and Learning Technology. Then it was simply known as Computer-based training or CBT. It also had nothing to do with e-learning, blended learning or virtual learning. Sliberman makes clear the positives and negatives of e-learning which I need to know now. If you are thinking of a career in training, this is a book that must be on your bookshelf and should be read (many times) before writing or implementing training. The book is in a good used condition. The dust cover is slightly worn up on the edges. · Please be serious about your bids. Checkout must be completed within 7 days of the close of auction.
