In all 8 signers. Playbill for the original Broadway drama A Patriot for Me, which ran for 49 performances at the Imperial Theatre, October 6 - November 15, 1969. The cast featured Salome Jens in the starring role of Countess Sophia, Dennis King as Baron von Epp, Ed Zimmerman as Judge Advocate Kunz, Richard Jordan as August Seczynski, Keene Curtis as Colonel Oblensky, Robert Stattel as Maximillian von Taussig, and Warren Burton in multiple supporting roles. King received a Tony Nomination a Best Featured Actor in a Play, while the costume designer (Freddy Wittop) won a Drama Desk award. SALOME JENS (b. 1935) appeared in 11 Broadway plays between 1956 and 1971, culminating in the title role of Mary Stuart in the latter year. In film and TV supporting roles since the late 1950s, she has had recurring roles on the series Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, Falcon Crest, The Adventures of Superboy (as Martha Kent, 1988-1992), Melrose Place and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (as the female Changeling leader). Her most recent film to date is A Place for Heroes, in post-production as of May 2013. The Tony-nominated role shown here was the last of 41 Broadway plays for DENNIS KING (1897-1971) extending over half a century from 1921. Seen in dramas by Shakespeare, Euripides and Ibsen, but also in operettas and musical comedies, King played such roles such as d'Artagnan, Richard II, Parnell and Benjamin Disraeli. He made his film debut opposite Jeanette MacDonald in The Vagabond King, a role he had initiated 5 years earlier on stage. Seen very frequently in the teleplays of the 1950s, he made selective TV appearances in the 1960s (Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Chronicle). American character actor KEENE CURTIS (1923-2002) had some of his greatest successes on stage, winning a Tony as Best Featured Actor in a Musical for The Rothschilds (1970) and scoring an Obie nomination for The Cocktail Hour (1988). He made a few feature films, including American Hot Wax and Heaven Can Wait, but his most frequent presence was as a TV guest star, often a recurring visitor. He appeared as John Allen Hall in 15 episodes of Cheers (1990-1993). Curtis was also a frequent voice over in animated series, including Lord Balthazar in The Smurfs (1981-1989). RICHARD JORDAN (1938-1993), a veteran with more than 100 New York stage credits, enjoyed playing complex and sometimes unsympathetic characters on TV and theater films. These included the part of Nazi leader Albert Speer (The Bunker, 1981), Georgia prosecutor Hugh Dorsey (The Murder of Mary Phagan, 1987), a hard-nosed U.S. national security advisor (The Hunt for Red October, 1990) and Confederate General Lewis Armistead (Gettysburg, 1995). WARREN BURTON (1944-2017) was making his only Broadway appearance in A Patriot for Me, but he has been a regular on several TV soaps, including Another World, The Guiding Light, Santa Barbara and Valley of the Dolls. In the new millennium he has been in great demand as a voice for video games, including Prince of Persia. ED ZIMMERMAN (1933-1972) was on a similar track, with one Broadway credit and a long-running role on The Guiding Light, cut short by his early death. ROBERT STATTEL (b. 1937) had four decades of Broadway credits, from Danton's Death (1965) to Little Women (2005). He played Dr. Watson in a revival of Sherlock Holmes (1976). Like many New York stage actors, he played recurring roles on daytime soaps (Ryan's Hope, Another World), but also made prime time appearances (Kojak, 1976). Lightly toned and worn at edges.
