Description: A FINE PAIR OF EARLY SILVER GEORGIAN SUGAR TONGS BY CHARLES HOUGHAM CIRCA 1765 The Tongs have elegantly shaped and pierced arms, with horizontal pails, and an unusual feather edge border. The arms terminate in shell grips, flanked by scrolls and the arched top is unusually engraved with stylised flowers / vines and bunches of grapes. The arch is also engraved with a set of contemporary initials. The tongs are in excellent condition and are clearly marked with the makers mark and sterling mark
