This is the very first edition of this famous novel. Good condition. It's an ex-library copy so there is the remains of a date label on the front free end paper, a couple of numbers written in biro and some scuffing from removed labels. A scored out crest stamp on the title page. A fragment of tape on the front pastedown. Some foxing/staining/grubby marks to the page edges, slight bumping at the corners. Some wear to the cloth at the top and bottom edges of the boards. See photos. Dustjacket clean and bright. A few small closed tears repaired with invisible book tape on the blank side. Some loss at the extremities of the spine. A scuff at the bottom of the spine where a label has been removed. Now in a removeable protective plastic sleeves. Check photos for more information. The book has signs of age and wear but is still in good condition. Binding fine. Very slight forward lean but not much. Well stored in a smoke free home. Just the lovely smell of an old book.
