Solid page and cover attachment to all volumes, though first volume has rubbing to tips and corners. The first two volumes (the oldest imprints) have more soiling and toning to the quarter binding, as well as a bit of toning in the endpapers. Pages free of marks, creases, or tears. Generally VERY GOOD though 3 and 4 volumes closer to FINE. BINDING: Beige cloth-backed over buff paper boards. He served as Librarian of Trinitiy College from 1907 until 1913, when he resigned upon marrying his cousin Elizabeth Gaskell. Greg never held an official academic appointment again, but his family fortune enabled him to pursue his productive scholarly career for several decades." .Offered is the entire set (well over 2000 pages, on hand laid paper with many illustrations), collected by an institution over the 23 years required to complete the publication. The first two volumes (the oldest imprints) have more wear that the final two which would grade FINE. The final volume IV is essential to the set as it explains much about the entire project and the methodology employed, along with final additions to the editions.
