Description: Victorian C1890s Solid 9ct Yellow Gold Propelling Pencil /w Onyx Knop 8.3g This is a late Victorian upmarket accessory for the well-to-do. A solid 9ct old yellow gold propelling pencil. It has a removable Corinthian column capital cap set with a piece of black onyx. It is not marked; tests confirm it is a minimum of 375 for its 9ct gold fineness. It has a slender six-sided stem with bright cut engraving of feathery leaf motifs. The middle has a collar that runs down a slot cut away on one side to reveal the propelling pencil mechanism. This has a twist action to expose the lead inside. The pencil is in very good antique condition, no loss or damage to report, some light wear. The photos form part of the condition description. Measures: max length 10.2cm, minimum length 8.3cm, collar diameter 6.5cm; weighs 8.3g overall.
