Description: This stunning pendant is a beautiful piece of modernist jewellery by Kupittaan Kulta, the jewellery company set up by the renowned Finnish designer Elis Kauppi in 1945. It is always a special find to source a vintage piece in gold by this maker, particularly with UK hallmarks and all the more rare to find a large three dimensional pendant in gold. It is made of 9ct/ 9K yellow gold and features a rectangular prism carnelian. It has fabulous striking geometric kinetic setting that allows the carnelian stone to ‘float’, having some movement, whilst being safely housed in the gold setting. Aside from the minimalist yet striking design this is also a great piece for people who are tactile and find enjoyment or calm in touching their jewellery or fidgeting. Approximate Dimensions: a relatively large pendant being 4cm long (incl. the integral bail where a chain can be looped through), 1.3cm at its widest and with a weight of 7 grams. Markings: Kupittaan Kulta makers mark, 9K stamp, FINLAND stamp plus full UK hallmarks for 9ct gold including the London assay office import mark, the date letter for 1975 and the retailers mark for Nina Breddal (a family business that began importing Scandinavian designs to the UK in the mid-1960’s). Condition: very good vintage condition, only minor surface wear which does not detract and clear hallmarks. Excellent quality.
