Description: Featured here is a Vintage DARK COBALT BLUE CERAMIC (SEMI-PORCELAIN) VASE in the KUTAMI-style, hand-decorated with a GOLD DECAL, depicting a PEACOCK & a PEAHEN also known as a PEAFOWL. This lovely piece is labeled "Made in JAPAN", which dates it back to the period immediately after the Second World War (1941). However, the GOLD DECAL dates it more accurately to the early 1960's, when these decals became very popular. These decals were hand-applied by female piece-workers, housewives, mothers with small children who could work from home. According to an expert, this had a positive impact in the way women in Japanese society were perceived. This lovely piece shows minimal signs of wear and still shines bright. It has a tiny 'nick' towards the bottom and a spot of discoloration of the gold rim on top, both of which I clearly identify in the photos herein and are part of the description. I hope you love it, and thanks for watching!
