The Greco FV-500 was manufactured by Matsumoku for Japan from around 1973, and the Electra 2236 is a guitar with the same specifications that was manufactured on an OEM basis for St. Louis Music in the United States. It's a well-known anecdote to fans, but in 1980, James bought a white Electra 2236 for $200, thinking it was a Gibson, and the great history of Metallica began. The FV500 and 2236 are still regarded as the most important guitars, and they are wonderful guitars with mahogany bodies and necks made of the best woods of the time. In Japan, the Greco FV500 is a valuable guitar that was created about 50 years ago and is rarely in stock.At my shop, we commissioned the FV500 from a Japanese metal guitar making workshop and completed the OGV. For reference, the last two photos are before the change. The guitar we sold last year had the specs we used on our most recent tour, but this time it's equipped with EMG pickups that are the same specs we used when we created Death Magnetic in 2008, and the "Kill 'Em All" FlyingV with jumbo frets. We created OGV. Currently, there is nothing similar on eBay or Reverb, and I think the OGV is as close to James' specifications as possible.
