Description: Description of item for sale: The 120+ year old Sacred Heart Parish church in Hoboken (Antwerp), Belgium closed several years ago and is currently slated for demolition. In April 2024 we purchased the furnishings with a goal of salvaging them and placing them in new homes in the USA. This large (65" tall) all hand painted wood pedestal dates to the very early 1900's. Its original use was for a large statue of the Holy Family. This is a very solid piece with original paint and gilded trim. The height makes it especially suitable for display of a larger piece of art. As expected, the original old painted finish is chipped and worn here and there giving it just the right patina of age. It is in very good antique condition with little damage of any significance (see photos). Note that there are a few old woodworm holes but absolutely nothing recent or active (see photos) and there are several very small pieces of trim missing (see photos). The top surface is also quite discolored and somewhat warped (see photos). Dimensions: 65" tall, 42" wide and 28" deep.
