Description: 6 Quality Antique Italian Silver Demitasse Cups 1800sPresented is a nice group of 6 Italian silver demitasse cups. Each cup has a scroll form handle and a band of raised decoration around the shoulder, but all the cups are slightly different and done in different sizes. I have seen cups in this style several times before. Oftentimes they were made in the late 1700's through the mid 1800's. These cups were made in Italy, most likely in the late 1800s. It is possible that some or all of them may have been made from the earlier part of the 1800s and hallmarked in the latter 1800's. Two of the cups are hallmarked with a crowned woman’s head facing to the left. This is an Italian hallmark for 800 purity silver. This mark was first instituted in 1872 and was used for several decades thereafter. The other four cups are marked with a head facing to the right and the number 8. Some of the cups have maker’s marks as shown in the photos. Please make your own determination as to the age of these cups. Certainly they are quite old. The cups are in good overall condition. They have some dents and dings here and there, but there are no splits, no monograms, no monogram removals, no breaks, and no repairs. The cups are between 1 3/8 and 1 3/4 inches tall. The total weight is 90.3 grams or 3.2 ounces. Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
