Description: My dad was a candy wholesaler from the late 1950's forward. He supplied grocery stores, pharmacies, taverns, etc. with candy, snack foods and the occasional toy and paper ephemera like these Japanese masks that came from deep in the warehouse. Made from a rough card stock these masks were probably made by hand in various home craft shops. They still hold their bright colors but the rubber strings to hold them against the face have gotten weaker over time. To be a functional mask new owner may need to replace with new rubber band strings.
