Description: Aloha, Excellent monarch host plant. Calotropis gigantea is easy to root. The branches are hardy. I’ll remove most leave except for the smallest ones on top. I get them rooted either in sand in a clear Tupperware or in another media. You can use peat, or even garden soil. Sometimes I stick the branches straight into the soil. It takes about a week or two for the first roots to grow. Just don’t keep it too wet. This milkweed doesn’t require a lot of water. I’ll ship after dipping in rooting hormone if you like. The cuttings will be around 12” long. I ship priority once a week. The cuttings will be inspected by the usda Hardiness zone 9-13 drought tolerant and easy to care for. It can grow to about 15’ high. Some of my milkweed trees I planted 20 years ago and they are going strong. Here in Hawaii I grow it for the monarchs which spend their entire life cycle on it. The leaves are thick and provide excellent food source. I also grow it for the flowers to make leis. The white Calotropis generally don’t produce seed pods and the way to propagate is by cutting. If you would like to buy bulk please let me know and we can work out a price and shipping. I also sell the white flower variety, seeds and leaves.
