46x59 18th ? AMAZING wall hanging fabric blue French embroidery SILK handmade h

This wonderful textile is made of a pale beige woven silk damask and the embroidery is all hand done ~ it's a masterpiece. This textile's construction I would say is around the 1930's but the ground fabric is much older, early 1800's ~ or earlier ~ ~ It's a pieced textile, made of many pieces of the fabric and hand stitched together to make the large piece. No doubt these pieces dame from a large curtain or similar ~ it's an extraordinarily beautiful textile ~ the tones of blues with the pale ground stopped me in my tracks ~ It's backed in natural cotton and trim is satin ribbon ~ This textile would make a gorgeous wall hanging , table cloth, wall hanging etc ~ it's a beautiful piece of embroidery and textile history ~*~ MEASUREMENTS :This textile measures approximately : 46 inches by 59 inches ~ CONDITION : As found, not freshly laundered . The backing has many age marks~ the ground has a few small hand mends from the original curtain etc. This would have been executed long before 1930's, time of construction ~ There are a few small tears in the silk ~ Generally it's in very good condition for it's age, but it's not without signs of time and use often inherent in these wonderful textiles ! ~*~ A 608
