Longines was among some of the earliest watch makers like Agassi, Auguste, Ebauch, Patek Philippe, LeCoultre, and Vacheron. In 1867, Longines was announced by Ernest Francillon in Saint lmier, Es Longines, meaning “long meadows”. Longines has produced numerous fashionable Art Nouveau watches and military standard watches throughout American history. In 1935, Longines developed the Weems and Linberg Pilots watch for the US Navy. Longines also developed several models of Admiral, Conquest, and Grand Prize. Today, Longines is part of the Swatch Group continuing making Heritage Collection Watches. This is a Longines WWII Victory Pilots military watch with inscription from British Air Ministry. The case is unique Longines Military 3 pieces with mid-case made of bullet type material, pewter. This material is very unique design for Longines because ammunition demand is extremely high for this material during WWII. Back case is stainless steel snap type. Case size is about 32mm which accurate for mens military watch of 1940’s WWII. Case back is inscribed “AM B6/159 G & S Co Ltd. 8472/42”. The abbreviation “AM” stands for Air Ministry of Britain in military. The top bezel holding the crystal is also stainless steel. The dial is aged with patinas. The numerics on dial is large and easy to read with a calibrated center second. The movement is Longines Caliber 12, currently running and keeping accurate time.
