Description: Maker and age: The renowned Limoges firm Lewis Strauss and Sons whose mark appears on the reverse of these 4 elegant plates exported high quality porcelain from France and other European countries. The firm is also known as Lazarus Strauss & Sons. The small green white ware mark number 3 of Coiffe, the factory that produced the porcelain, also appears. This mark was in use between 1891 and 1914. Design: In keeping with the exceptionally high quality that made the company's porcelain so famous and so coveted, the set is beautifully hand painted with a band of gold leaves accented in black against a backdrop of thin translucent porcelain. A thin black inner band adds impact. It's the pattern that replacements.com calls LSS92. Size: The plates are 6 1/8 inches wide and together weigh 1 pound 5 ounces. Condition: They are in excellent condition with no marks, nicks, chips, cracks, stains, scratches, or crazing. There is light wear to the gold edges. Please check all the photos very carefully - they are an important part of the description.
