Description: Condition as seen. Feb. 2, 1862 As I did not send the letter yesterday, I thought I would write a little more. I received a letter from you to day. I have just come off guard. It rained all night. I do not feel like writing much but thought I would let you know that had got your letter. I have not heard a word from _____ yet. You need not worry about them having a battle near here yet. If they attack Norfolk we shall not go I think. We shall stay to guard the camp while the rest are away. I received a letter from Abbie the same time I received yours in answer to the one I wrote her. Her handwriting is so much like yours that I thought I had got two from you. She says that if she knew that all her friends would come back she would be satisfied. But she could not help worrying about them all the time. I suppose that it is the same with you but it is no use to worry. You must look at the bright side of this thing. I am able to stand most anything now and shall probably come out all right in the course of three years. We have got the most healthy location in the whole South. We have not lost but two men by sickness since we left Mass(achusettes). I am so tired I guess I will stop so good bye til I write again. From your brother, Charles L. Fales
